Daniel Sandler Water Colour Fluid Blush Review

I absolutely love Daniel Sandler’s water colour fluid blush, applied on top of foundation and under face powder, it produces a really natural looking glow and lasts all day into evening resulting in avoiding the need to top up your blush as the night goes on – you know the clown look that often walks out of the ladies room, a few breezers or jeager mysters too many and the ability to judge when you have enough blush or bronzer on completly leaves you.  Not a good look!   But there’s little to no chance of that happening with this product as it’s waterproof and stays looking fresh and natural all day long, this stuff won’t budge!  Read the rest of this entry »

Lock Up Your Lippie Ladies!

So Steven Gerard, Jenson Button and Jonny Wilkinson have all worn makeup applied by Gary Cockerill, Makeup Artist and GBF to Jordan, according to The Sun Newspaper 18th May 2011.  Steven Gerard apparently wore some for his wedding but in what context Button and Wilkinson have worn makeup, I don’t know, they didn’t say.  And apparently Gary Cockerill is developing a line of men’s makeup.  I don’t know about you but I know the last thing I want when I kiss my husband is to be worrying about his shade of lipstick mixing with mine!  Or have him say ‘oh be careful not to smudge my lippie’  – what?!?  No I just can’t see it.  My man is not the macho, hairy chest, full of bravado, sporty fan, he’s more of an intellectual, science geek, mixed with the enthusiasm of a young red setter, who does the bins, cleans drains and kills spiders for me and he baulks at the idea of mankup (my word for man makeup)!  Read the rest of this entry »

Get an Eyeful of Cheryl!

Okay so there’s a bit of talk about Cheryl Cole who ‘not only brought it – but put it out there’ in Cannes in a white Stephane Rolland Couture dress at the Habemus Papem premiere on Friday 13th May.  But hey, if you’ve got it flaunt it, I guess?  But I think her make up is worth a mention. I’m really loving her make up, particularly her eye make up.  The placement of gold shimmer eyeshadow/highlight at the inner corners and along the upper and lower lash line really bring brightness and light to her eyes, the deep dark ruby red lipstick is stunning and the sweep of shimmer on her cheek and brow bone adds drama and a glow to her face (see next pic by clicking on ‘read the rest of this entry’ below).

I’m not sure everyone could get away with that amount of shimmer but I think Cheryl carries it off.  Then again I don’t think there are many that could get away with that neck line either, but she has such a beautiful face it hard to be distracted away from it for too long – she has one of those faces you are compelled to look at!  Read the rest of this entry »

Eurovision Winners Party Makeup

Okay, so I’ve officially got Eurofever!!  Very excited about watching on Saturday!! Come on Jedward! Bring the Eurovision home!!!

If you are hosting a Eurovision party this weekend and cheering on Jedward – rather than dressing up like Jedward (bridge too far for me!) then how about an Irish winners themed party, the girls could come dressed as Dana (1970) or Linda Martin (1992), the guys can even dress up in a white boiler suit reminiscent on Johnny Logan ‘Hold me now’ (1980 + 1987).  My favourite makeup look would have to be the 80’s for the sheer fun of it! (Confession:  I am a child of the 80’s!!)  Read the rest of this entry »

Who’s that girl?

Madonna looked absolutely amazing at the Alexander McQueen Benefit Gala in New York (as featured on Fashion Police last week).  She’s fabulous anyway but for a woman in her early 50’s she looks truly amazing.

I did feel that she lost her style somewhere along the way but she looks like she back, her arms have lost that sever sinewy appearance and she looks healthy and glowing.

I love glamorous, screen siren beauty at the best of times and I’m so loving her look right now that I’ve been tempted to breakout the red lipstick myself!!  And don’t get me started on the dress!! LOVE IT!

L’Oreal Touche Magique or YSL Touche Eclat?

Much as I love YSL Touche Eclat my wallet doesn’t, it’s a bit on the pricy side at around €30, so I am always trying to find a good alternative.  Right now I’m loving L’Oreal’s Touche Magique ‘Anti-fatigue and illuminating concealer – smoothing effect’.  It comes in a range of colours from Ivory Beige to Deep Beige and at in and around €10 it’s a great product.  I personally love ‘Rose Porcelain’ to mask dark circles as I am quite pale, I do however mix it Read the rest of this entry »

Makeup Forever Face & Body Foundation Review

I absolutely love MUFE Face & Body and it is my go to foundation on a daily basis.  It is so light and fresh and delivers a nice healthy natural glow to my skin.  It blends really well and the coverage is buildable if you allow time between ‘coats’ and don’t rush it.  It’s staying power is pretty good, although it wouldn’t bring me through from day to night. Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Review

On a recent trip through Dublin airport, I decided to treat myself and buy some Giorgio Armani luminous silk foundation, I’d heard so much about it, I couldn’t help myself!!  The price at Dublin airport was €34 for a 30ml bottle which I thought was a stonkingly good price!  So excited was I by the product and price, that I decided to get three shades for my kit.  The product promises a ‘silky, lightweight, fluid foundation.  Blurs away imperfections without masking…  Hydrading, non-greasy, long lasting formula.  Velvety, luminous natural finish on the skin.  Will not crease or cake.’  Well how could one resist!! Kate Middleton Wedding Makeup – 29th April 2011

I think that we would all agree that Kate Middleton is a beautiful woman, and looked stunning as a bride today and while I applaud her for doing her own makeup for her wedding I don’t think that it quite worked.  I don’t question her technic, it looks expertly applied, but it’s a bit heavy on the eye makeup, that’s a lot of black eyeliner!  Blessed as she is with good looks, I would have loved to have seen her eyes done a lot softer, and allow her natural beauty to shine without distraction.  The heavy smokey look is a bit too close to her every day look and lacks a timeless classic beauty that one expects from bridal makeup.

I admire her stance on knowing her own mind and being sure of how she wants to look,  but to my mind it’s really a look of this era and in 20 years time it will probably look a bit iffy.   Hey, each to their own!!!

All that said, she did look beautiful!
