How to Get Emma’s Look – That’s Elementary Dear Watson!

Emma Watson sure does look a million dollars on the cover of American Vogue.  So how do you get Emma’s look on the cheap, well that’s elementary dear Watson!

It’s a simple look that’s all about intense deep plum red lips and nails, and matching them together.  Not a traditional summer look but given the dreary weather in Ireland at the moment, it sure feels like winter, so I say go for it!  And it’s a pretty cool look for a night out.

Lips:  Try Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick in Starry Eyed for €6.55.  Lash on a few coats of this stuff and top it off with a clear lipgloss.  You can see from the swatches (see below) that it gets more intense the more you apply, well it is only €6.55!!

I’m sure there are others but it’s the only ‘drug store’ brand I found that came close to what Emma’s wearing on the cover of Vogue.

Rimmel say it lasts up to 8 hours, I didn’t think it did. Mind you I’m sure there’s a right way and a wrong way to wear it.  It might last if you decide not to eat or drink anything unless it can be consumed through a straw for 8 hours.  That said I love the colour and it doesn’t feel dry at all like some long wear lipsticks.

‘I Wanna Go’ Get Blue Eye Shadow

Britney is looking so fantastic these days, she’s really got her groove back and I’m absolutely loving her eye makeup on the cover of her new single ‘I Wanna Go’ out June 7th or 8th? I haven’t heard the song yet, it could be pants, but I want to talk about her makeup not her music!

I’m always a little terrified of blue eye liner as it brings back nightmares from the early eighties in fact I think a Rimmel blue eye liner was the very first bit of makeup I ever owned.  I know lots of people are wearing blue eye shadows and blue eye liners but I think Britney really shows us how to wear blue successfully by restricting it to below the lower lashes. Rimmel London Waterproof Eyeliner Review

Liquid or gel eyeliners can be a bit difficult to master and can be a little intimidating if you have not used them before but Rimmel’s Exaggerate waterproof eye definer makes defining your eyes really easy.  It’s perfect if you are a bit wobbly or unsteady applying eyeliners as it’s a lot easier to control than a liquid or gel.

It comes in a twist up pen style with a smudger for achieving the perfect smokey eye look and a sharpener at one end so you always have it at hand.  And it’s available in a limited range of colours. Read the rest of this entry »

Did I Miss the Day 2 Night Rimmel London Bus?

Follow my blog with Bloglovin

Okay so I seem to be on a bit of a Mascara journey at the moment, but I can’t help it every magazine I open seems to be offering a new technology or innovation to make my eyelashes flutter perfect!!  This time I was hooked in by Rimmel Glam’eyes Day 2 Night mascara with a 2 in 1 magic cap.  I love the packaging and the concept, being an ex marketer I love a new clever idea, but I think perhaps that’s all this is?

It’s intriguing when you first open both this product, I really wanted to play with it!  The magic cap is kind of cool, basically it works like this: The volume brush and wand takes up a lot of mascara, which allows you to apply quite a thick coating which I guess creates volume – it looks like a regular brush and wand but if you look closely is actually encased in a ‘sleeve’ so when you pull out the other brush – the length brush – it is actually being pulled through the ‘sleeve’ and taking off a lot of the product, in effect the ‘length’ wand is being pulled through a smaller hole therefore cleaning the brush of a lot of product.  This lesser amount of product is what allows you to create length. Eurovision Winners Party Makeup

Okay, so I’ve officially got Eurofever!!  Very excited about watching on Saturday!! Come on Jedward! Bring the Eurovision home!!!

If you are hosting a Eurovision party this weekend and cheering on Jedward – rather than dressing up like Jedward (bridge too far for me!) then how about an Irish winners themed party, the girls could come dressed as Dana (1970) or Linda Martin (1992), the guys can even dress up in a white boiler suit reminiscent on Johnny Logan ‘Hold me now’ (1980 + 1987).  My favourite makeup look would have to be the 80’s for the sheer fun of it! (Confession:  I am a child of the 80’s!!)  Read the rest of this entry »
