What I’d Save If My Make Up Table Was On Fire!

If your makeup table was on fire and you could only save one thing, what would it be?  Now, before I get attacked for not saving the kids, the dog, the cat, the wedding album etc.from a burning building, take that as given, I mean if just your make up table or dressing table caught fire, what would you save?

I did consider saving my brushes, because I’ve spent so much on them and would be lost without them now, but I finally settled on my Make Up Forever Aqua Eyes Collector set of 25 absolutely fabulous waterproof crayons.  I feel like a small girl again when I look at these, they’s are like the prefect set of markers or crayons you got as a present before your little sister lost/broke/destroyed them on you, or the dog decided they looked good enough to eat!  Warning…  the next image is serious make up porn!! Golden Days Now Autumns Here! Simple Eye Shadow Looks Using Gold

I’m really loving gold recently so much so I feel like standing up and saying ‘Hi, I’m Fiona, and I have a gold make up problem’.  I buy it, and look at it like Golum and his infamous ring, feeling it’s too precious to use or I won’t have the occasion to wear it.

So in response to Aine who took part in my MAC Golden Gaze give away, and asked me to do some gold eyeshadow looks using Golden Gaze, I thought I would show some looks using others golds instead, just in case you don’t get your hands on the lovely Golden Gaze.

Gold to me is usually an occasion colour but I really wanted to do a day time look with them, something really simple, quick to do, and easy to wear.  I’d love to have had a young model to work on to do these, as the quality of my eyelid skin is not great for shimmery eyeshadows, that’s age for you!!  I did a Gold and Green and a Gold and Pink eye shadow look. No.7 Gold Metallic Eye Pencils

I recently purchased two of No. 7’s Metallic Eye Pencils, Gold and Camouflage, they are also available in a metallic blue and a purple, both of which look very pretty, but I was on a gold hunt!

These pencils glide on easily, but don’t expect to get a sharp line with them as they are super soft. The Camouflage colour is great for a creating a quick and dramatic smoky eye, and the gold pencil can be used to create highlights at the inner corners of the eye.  The gold colour is also lovely when placed directly over the camouflage colour particularly along the lower lash line, it produces an intense black-gold look and gives your smoky eyes an extra bit of sparkly depth.  . The Gold is a good strong visible gold and the Camouflage is an interesting mix of green, black with a hint of gold. Over all, I was impressed with the colour payoff of these pencils

On the down side… well they are neither long wearing nor waterproof, which is a shame, and in my opinion have a tendency to slide and fade after a few hours so you would definitely need an eye shadow/eye lid primer to help with the staying power.  I’m happy I bought these, in particular the gold pencil, but I don’t think I would purchase them again.

Priced at €9.95 each they are a bit dear, of course you can get them at a better price if you wait for a 3 for 2 offer, and if you have a Boots €7.50 off voucher. Yes you can use the voucher against 3 for 2 products, at least I have on numerous occasions, meaning you could get three of them for a total of €12.40, an average of €4.13 which I guess is reasonable for what they are.

Rimmel London Waterproof Eyeliner Review

Liquid or gel eyeliners can be a bit difficult to master and can be a little intimidating if you have not used them before but Rimmel’s Exaggerate waterproof eye definer makes defining your eyes really easy.  It’s perfect if you are a bit wobbly or unsteady applying eyeliners as it’s a lot easier to control than a liquid or gel.

It comes in a twist up pen style with a smudger for achieving the perfect smokey eye look and a sharpener at one end so you always have it at hand.  And it’s available in a limited range of colours. Read the rest of this entry »

New Maybelline Gel Eyeliner Review

From the outset I have to say that I was really impressed with this product.  I usually use Clinique’s gel eyeliner and I found that Maybelline’s gel eyeliner compares very well to it.  In fact I’d say it’s a tiny bit better!  (opps can’t believe I just said that!!)

Aisling from on TV3’s Xposé compared it to Bobbi Brown’s gel eyeliner and was impressed by this product, so that’s gotta be a good thing!

In my opinion Maybelline’s gel eyeliner is a great little product at a great price of €11.99 and comes with a really nice little brush that is full sized (unlike Clinique that give you a dolly sized brush!)  So how does it compare to my usual fav Clinique?  Read the rest of this entry »
